A character you want next series

this one has really thrown me for a loop. i'm assuming (for a basic assumption of trollage) that the regular group will be back, plus one surprise that no one is sure how they're going to do or, indeed, if it's just the trolls being trolls, but that also means they'll be doing new stories. so i started thinking about it and decided there was one character who puts in a lot of work in one of the fairly main stories and it would be fun to have him make an appearance in the show.

Toby!! *grins* seriously, wouldn't it be fun to have him in an episode? he appears in "The Sign of Four" in the cannon, which is the story where Watson meets his wife Mary. there's some debate as to whether she is the first wife or the second, but they do end up married. then there's some debate about how many times he's married after Mary dies. *sighs* anyway, i just think it would be fun to have some "old school" detecting and use a dog for the case. and Toby is pretty cute on TV, even if he wasn't in the cannon. (yes, that is Jeremy and Edward in the background. Granada is the only one i know who has done this story with a dog)

A sad moment

Not as many i could pick here, at least not without major spoilers and, as i have friends who are just starting to watch the series, i'm trying to avoid those, we'll go with this one.

The moment Mycroft realizes exactly what he's done.

And what it's cost him. (note the cake stand next to him. i think the diet is out the window)

i haven't watched the episode, but Mark plays this so beautifully that i had to pause and watch these sections when i was flipping through Fall at camp. i have a suspicion as to all of this, but at the same time without watching it, i just don't know if i'm right or not. if they're going by cannon, then i am. if they're not, well, we'll just have to see then.

A funny moment

it's from Scandal again. this whole sequence cracks me up.

"Are you wearing any pants?"    "No."
sherlock-201-04376

"Buckingham Palace. Seriously, Sherlock, what are we doing here? Here to see the Queen?"
"Oh, apparently yes."
sherlock-201-04569

"We are in Buckingham Palace, the very heart of the British Nation. Sherlock Holmes, put your trousers on."
"What for?"
sherlock-201-04718

"Get off my sheet."
"Or what?"
"Or I'll just walk out of here."
"I'll let you."
sherlock-201-04994

as much as i really didn't like him in the first episode, Mycroft has grown on me so much. i'm with John and want to punch him in Fall, but at the same time, i can understand where he's coming from. and face it, Sherlock does push equally hard most of the time. Ben and Mark play off each other brilliantly as the brothers.

An epic/badass moment

i know which one everyone is probably picking for this one, and i was tempted by it at first because it is epic and badass at the same time. plus, i love that Sherlock and John have a code/safeword for their relationship. *giggles* but i'm not going to pick the Vatican Cameos part of Scandal. not even for the win shot of Sherlock's ass in those tight suit pants. *fans self*

my pick is from Scandal though.

sherlock-201-17116

i mean, come on, taking on three armed CIA agents without a weapon? that's just win. and his best line for the scene "first get rid of your boys. i dislike being outnumbered, it makes for too much stupid in the room." Sherlock just wins in this whole sequence. and that's twice he gets one up on this agent, so that's just win. :)

Favourite non-canon pairing

Hmmm, anyone want to take a guess at this one? *grins*

For all their antagonism towards each other (I'm dealing with a child) i really do think they have a shared affection for each other. i've picked up on it a couple of times with tones that Sherlock used when talking to Lestrade, and Lestrade seems to be softer towards Sherlock a few odd times. Plus, it lets John of the hook. gefufufufuuu.

Favourite canon pairing

Sherlock and John. Yes, this one actually does count as a cannon pairing because everyone in the bloody show except John ships them. *Grins* Gatiss and Moffat enjoy that, I think. Truthfully, these two are wicked awesome together. John just pisses me off occasionally, but I can see this as a pairing.

Favourite quote

I absolutely cannot pick one favorite line from this show. It's impossible. I refuse. *grins* Although the one about falling out the window kills me every time i watch that scene. the look on Lestrade's face is priceless. so here's a list of my all time favorite quotes from the show.

Sherlock Holmes: Sorry, gotta dash, I think I left my riding crop in the mortuary.
Sherlock Holmes: It means whenever the police are out of their depth — which is always — they consult me.
Sherlock Holmes: You were thinking. It's annoying.
Sherlock Holmes: Dear God. What is it like in your funny little brains? It must be so boring.
Sherlock Holmes: Anderson, don't talk out loud. You lower the IQ of the whole street.
Sherlock Holmes: ... Ha. Look at you lot. You're all so vacant. Is it nice not being me? It must be so relaxing.
Dr John Watson: Stop it! We can't giggle at a crime scene.
Sherlock Holmes: Careful! Some of those skulls are over two hundred thousand years old! Have a bit of respect!
Sherlock Holmes: Don't make people into heroes, John. Heroes don't exist, and if they did, I wouldn't be one of them.
John Watson: Are you wearing any pants?
John Watson: We solve crimes. I blog about it, and he forgets his pants. I wouldn't hold out too much hope.
Mycroft Holmes: We are in Buckingham Palace, the very heart of the British nation. Sherlock Holmes, put your trousers on!
DI Lestrade: And exactly how many times did he fall out the window?
Sherlock Holmes: I take the precaution of a good coat and a short friend.
Mycroft Holmes: That's the problem with the deceased. Late. In every sense of the word.

Favourite minor character

again, i'm not too sure how they're breaking up major and minor characters, but i'm going to pick Detective Inspector Greg Lestrade. :) that's one that i never thought i would be typing because the character really does annoy me in both the cannon and the Granada series, but in this set, i adore him.

tumblr_m4qvxzIDI91qii7oro1_500

he plays off both Sherlock and John really well. i'd like to see him go up against Mycroft one of these days. okay, i just gave myself the giggles there. Lestrade is just a lot of fun. he's aware that he needs Sherlock, but hates that he does need him. though i get the feeling that he is fond of the man in his own way, as Sherlock is of him. i don't think the quote has shown up in this incarnation, but in the cannon Holmes calls Lestrade and Gregson "the best of a bad lot" when talking about Scotland Yard. from TBB, i get the feeling that Sherlock feels that way because he's not really happy about having to work with a new DI on the case.

Favourite main character

i'm not sure how they're defining main vs minor character for this. but i know how *i* am going to do it. ;-) favorite main character is Sherlock himself. anyone surprised there? *looks at floor* no one fainted, that's a good thing. it's not hard to figure out. Sherlock Holmes (in the cannon) has long been my idol. the only thing i don't like about him is his drug habit, which is only mentioned in the early stories. most folks think that Watson weened him off the drugs, but i can't help but wonder if the hiatus didn't have something to do with it.
okay, back onto the show, which is what i'm supposed to be talking about here anyway. Ben plays Sherlock wonderfully. he's got just the right amount of quirk to pull the character off. he has the swagger and the mentality when he's in character to get the ego and attitude down perfectly. (I take the precaution of a good coat and a short friend) besides, how is this not awesome?

tumblr_m4v535n86A1qbyw97o1_500

then there's the whole deal with his voice. oh, does he have a nice voice. i love voices, i love accents (especially English ones) and he combines them all into one very nice package. (we won't talk about his arse in this post) Ben makes a wonderful Sherlock. that's all there is to it.

Favourite episode

you'd think with only seven episodes, it would be easy to pick. *sighs* they're all so good (well, haven't watched Fall in it's entirety yet, but still) with such good scripts that it's really, really hard to pick just one.

we'll do it this way. for my favorite pairing, it's The Great Game because there's a lot of Sherlock and Lestrade interaction in that one. the puzzles are great and there's lots and lots of Sherlock exposition, which is always just hot. i swear that Ben uses a lower voice on purpose when he does those sequences. *grins*
overall, it's Scandal in Belgravia. that one has the best script, best character interaction, best lines, best everything. it's the one i watch when i need something to giggle at (how many times did he fall out the window?) and also when i need to be able to get either Sherlock or Mycroft's serious voices. there's also a great moment of clueless Sherlock that is just adorable. (granted, it's nowhere near as cute as the teddy bear routine)
